Category: Integrated Pest Exclusion & Facility Maintenance
OMNIServiceUSA executed a specialized structural fortification of the Receiving Area at the Dover facility.
This project focused on the high-traffic Emergency Exit double doors, which had become a primary point of vulnerability for the building’s perimeter.
The existing exit hardware had suffered significant environmental and biological degradation. A site inspection revealed active rodent "chewing marks" on the legacy rubber door sweeps, indicating a persistent pest pressure. Furthermore, the absence of a threshold had created a massive 3/4" vertical gap under the doors, while a failing astragal (the vertical seal between the two doors) left a clear path for light and pests to penetrate the facility.
Our facility maintenance team implemented a heavy-duty exclusion strategy to reinforce the "Seal the Box" initiative:
Threshold Installation: We supplied and installed a 1/2" x 5" x 72" commercial-grade aluminum threshold. This added elevation successfully closed the 3/4" gap, providing a solid surface for the new sweeps to engage.
Multi-Layer Sweeps: To deter future gnawing, we replaced the compromised rubber with Xcluder® rodent-proof door sweeps. These were paired with 2-inch industrial brush sweeps to provide a secondary barrier against drafts, dust, and insects.
Vertical Gap (Astragal) Closure: We installed a new set of split astragals, precision-mounted to the surface of each door. This hardware effectively "locks" the vertical gap between the double doors when closed, completing the perimeter seal.

Measurable results that speak for themselves
Successfully removed the 3/4" gap and vertical voids that previously allowed unauthorized pest entry.
Upgraded vulnerable rubber components to gnaw-proof materials, significantly reducing future maintenance needs.
By sealing the large gaps in the receiving area, we reduced thermal loss and stabilized the internal climate of the warehouse.
